Enam Bosokah, a gifted sculptor and portrait artist, was born and raised in the Volta region of Ghana. Now 38 years old, Bosokah lives and works in Accra, the vibrant capital of Ghana. His extraordinary talent for creating hyper-realistic portraits often leads viewers to mistake his meticulously crafted drawings for photographs. Remarkably, he achieves this stunning realism using nothing more than a simple ballpoint pen.
Over the past four years, Bosokah has dedicated himself to the art of ballpoint pen drawing, focusing extensively on portraiture. His works capture the essence of everyday people with such precision and detail that they resonate deeply with viewers. His journey into the world of art began early when he developed a passion for artistic expression. Despite uncertainty about where this passion would lead, his decision to study fine arts in high school marked a pivotal moment.
Bosokah's dedication to his craft and his unique ability to bring out the soul of his subjects through the humble medium of a biro distinguishes him in the contemporary Ghanaian art scene. His Porsche Series portraits (Niki Lauda, Ferdinand Porsche, Walter Röhrl) demonstrate the breadth of his commissioned practice, while works such as 'Still Ongoing' — depicting fish consumed by oceanic waste — show his engagement with sustainability themes.
