Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

To-Choose is committed to making our website accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA as a baseline standard, and apply the German Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG) where applicable.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Accessibility features implemented

  • Skip-to-content link on every page
  • Proper semantic HTML structure with <main>, <nav>, <header>, <footer> landmarks
  • Keyboard-navigable interface with visible focus indicators
  • Sufficient color contrast for text content
  • Respect for the prefers-reduced-motion user preference
  • Descriptive alt text for meaningful images
  • Page language declared in HTML
  • Responsive design that adapts to mobile, tablet, and desktop
  • No automatic media playback
  • YouTube videos load only after explicit user interaction

Known limitations

We are aware of the following limitations and are working on them:

  • Some artist portrait images may not have fully descriptive alt text; we are updating these as we collect richer metadata.
  • Embedded YouTube videos rely on YouTube's own accessibility features (captions, transcripts).
  • PDF documents linked from our exhibition pages may not be fully tagged for accessibility.
