Biography
Nyornuwofia Agorsor is a painter and the lead singer of the Agorsor Band. She taught herself to paint and later studied at Kofi Agorsor’s studio. Her pictures look like blackboards: equations, geometric figures, classroom scenes and half-legible text, painted in clear colours with a childlike lightness that is deliberate.
Her subject is education. She argues that Africa needs schools that train people to think for themselves instead of to obey, and her paintings comment on that with humour and sometimes with satire. In 2025 she worked at the makers united residency at Schloss Augustusburg.
