When you only read this website, we collect the data your browser sends to our server. It is technically necessary to show you the website and to keep it stable and secure:

Hosting

This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., 44 Montgomery Street, Suite 300, San Francisco, California 94104, USA. Netlify processes the data listed above on our behalf under a data processing agreement. For transfers to the USA, Netlify takes part in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which ensures European data protection standards on the basis of an adequacy decision of the European Commission.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use tracking, analytics or marketing cookies. No third-party tracking services such as Google Analytics, Matomo or the Meta Pixel are used, and no personal data is processed for marketing or profiling.

The hosting infrastructure may use technically necessary identifiers to deliver the website. They contain no personal information and do not require consent under § 25 (2) TDDDG.

Fonts

The fonts on this website (Archivo and IBM Plex Mono) are stored on our own server and delivered from there. Your browser does not connect to Google Fonts or any other font service.

Film loops

The short silent film loops on our pages are files on our own server. They start only while they are in view, and not at all if your device asks for reduced motion. No data goes to a third party.

Documentaries from YouTube

Our documentaries are hosted on YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (parent company Google LLC, USA).

We embed them in the extended data protection mode (youtube-nocookie.com). On our pages you first see a still image stored on our own server. Nothing is loaded from YouTube and no data is sent to YouTube until you click play.

When you click play, your browser connects directly to YouTube’s servers. YouTube learns which of our pages you are on and receives your IP address. If you are logged in to your YouTube account, YouTube can link this to your profile. You can prevent that by logging out first.

For transfers to the USA, Google takes part in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in showing our films.

If you write to us or call, we store the details you give us (for example your email address, your name and your message) in order to answer you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your enquiry, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We delete the data once it is no longer needed, unless statutory retention periods apply.

Links to other websites

Links to Instagram, YouTube and other websites are plain links. No data is transferred until you follow them. From then on the privacy policy of that website applies.
